Favorit MIDI files.

1.Akira's MIDI mind
The master mind. FF series, example FF4J Dreadful Battle, FF medley and so on, are very good. Santa is cute. And some good files are in the reader's column, contributor page. Expamle Dracula Selection is cool. Some files use 2 or 3 channels for drum part. Some MIDI players cannot play those files correctly. Example MediaPlayer in Windows, players using MIDI mapper, sound only one drum channel.

Some files use 32Ch or multiple drum channels. You can't hear these on player, not treat them. In Japan, famous "TMIDI" player is used. This player treats all problem. But I don't know that under English Windows this player would run or not.

About LZH/Lha
You may see files with "lzh" extension in Japan. If you can already extract such file, you need not to read this section.
"LZH" means that it is combined two compress "LZ" and "Haffman" methods. "Lha" is a program name treating "LZH" file. "Lha" in old version used the "LZ77" method, in new version uses the "LZSS" method maybe. "Lharc" is the old version "Lha" just "LH" + "Archiver" :-) Years ago, "lharc" was better than "pkzip" on compressed file size, but slower. "lharc" was a free software. "pkzip", however, was a share ware. So in Japan, "lharc" has been used for most cases.....Such an ancient saga is not necessary:-)
"WinZip" can list files in "lzh" archive. But it cannot extract without a external sub program. We must register a extenal program into "WinZip". I use "lha32.exe", download available here. This program cannot run standalone, because it use "unlha32.dll". We must install "unlha32.dll" into directory "windows/system". "unlha32.dll" is available here.
When preparations have been done, can register "lha32.exe" into "WinZip".
Run "WinZip", select "Options"->"Configuration", click "Program Locations" tab, and write "lha32.exe" with installed path into right LHA space.
Done. Good luck.

About yz1/DeepFreezer
You 'll see a file with "yz1" extension rarely. It is compressed by "DeepFreezer". I don't know its algorism, maybe, it uses unique and characteristic algorism and "Haffman". This compresser squeezes a text file to wonderful and sensational size. What is more fast. In the case of binary file, size is bit better than "zip" and "lzh" one. But compressing speed is very slow.
"DeepFreezer" is available this page. In addition to "yz1", this software can extract "lzh", "zip", "rar" and so on. But some "dll"s corresponding to these additions are needed.

About RCP,R32/Recomposer
"Recomposer" is a famous software to make MIDI file in Japan, used from MS-DOS era. "RCP" and "R32" are default format saveing files by this software. Sometimes you may see old MIDI files with extension "RCP" or "R32". "R32" format is advanced "RCP" format in 32ch MIDI message.
TMIDI player, used well in Japan, supports them. But in all likelihood players made in other country cannot play them.
The converter to standard MIDI file exists. "CVS" is the coverter based on DOS. I think it just "ConVerter to Standard midi":-)
